Connecting an external audio device

Refer to the owner's guide of the product being connected for more detailed instructions.

3.5 mm audio output

If the portable audio device has a 3.5 mm audio output, follow these steps to connect the device to your speakers:

  • Using a 3.5 mm male-to-3.5 mm male stereo interconnect cable, insert one of the 3.5 mm (1/8") plugs into the output of your portable device. It may be labelled "Line OUT" or "Headphone OUT"

    Note: If you have an original Apple® iPhone®, which has a recessed 3.5 mm audio output jack, you may need an adapter to make this connection.
  • Insert the other end of the cable into the Audio Input jack on the back of the right speaker

6.3 mm audio output

If the portable audio device has a 6.3 mm audio output, follow these steps to connect the device to your speakers:

  • Using a 6.3 mm male-to-stereo-3.5 mm-male stereo interconnect cable, insert the 6.3 mm plug into the audio output jack of the portable audio device. It may be labelled "Line OUT" or "Headphone OUT"
  • Insert the 3.5 mm plug into the Audio Input jack on the back of the right speaker

RCA audio output

If the portable audio device has a stereo (left and right) RCA audio output, follow these steps to connect the device to your speakers:

  • Using a dual male RCA-to-stereo 3.5 mm male adapter cable, insert the left and right plugs into the audio output jacks of the portable audio device. These are most commonly white and red, and may be labelled "Line OUT" or "Headphone OUT"
  • Insert the 3.5 mm plug into the Audio Input jack on the back of the right speaker
